It is that time of the year again, that an elderly gentleman brings me flowers from his garden - it goes to show you that Nature is truely an inspiration - aren't the colours in these just amazing. Lets all look at adding a colour to our next project that we wouldn't normally put into our work - I am sure it could look wonderful.
Over Easter I was inspired to revamp my spa room back into a bedroom - after moving the spa out side, and lots of cleaning I started to decorate, trying to use bits and pieces from around the house. Ihad bought some paint back in Feb - Porters - Donkey Grey 1/2 strength - so decided to paint this little cupboard I purchased at a auction over 20 years ago. This is a before shot of the cupboard and a finished shot, I am so happy with the result. Now I have decided to paint a few more bits and pieces to go in the room - I will share them once complete.
A few of the gorgeous quilts made this week in two small retreats, it was great to have both groups here - wow the year has certainly flown doesn't reem like 12 months since you were all here. All the quilts look great - I am sure you are all please with them. Midnight Rose has certainly been very popular along with my "Snow Crystal" quilt from "Dreaming of a White Christmas". I am looking forward to seeing you all again at the Cottage on the Hill - Nundle
The next couple of weeks are going to be very busy with 3 two day retreats, keep an eye out for lots more lovely quilts.
Just thought I would share this photo of sunset yesterday afternoon - as I arrived back from my jog/walk, just before the sun went down this was the sky to the west - the colours were amazing. If you ever doubt your colour choice for a quilt, bag or any other project just take a good look around you each day and appreciate the colour combinations in NATURE. There seams to be lots of rules out there about putting colours together - but hey rules are meant to be broken and nature breaks them well.
Stunning - actually the photo doesn't do the colours justice
Look I could actually sit down to sew in my sewing room now. Well it must have been the weather or something but I have been on a mission to tidy up and last night I hit my sewing room - which is just part of a spare bedroom. I am glad I didn't take a before photo - you all would have been disgusted. Anyway all clean and tidy so I thought I would have a give away - leave me a comment and let me know what you would do with a scrap back or two and I will put you in the draw to win a bag of my scraps, and draw it on Sunday night. Happy sewing Kerry
Just thought I would share with you a photo I took just before my jog on Good Friday morning - the back drop to my view from the back door are the mountains of the Great Dividing Range - this is how they looked Friday morning, covered in cloud from the coast.
Some people think I sew all the time - but really I don't - I actually don't find very much time at all to sew. Last night I was home alone so I took the opportunity to sew and this is what I achieved. I made this shaggy quilt for a friend for her birthday, and caught up on the last 3 blocks from my online FIS group - BOM, I am making these blocks out of some of my very old Debbie Mumm fabrics - I have an old suitcase full and I still love them. My aim with these blocks is to make all 12 without repeating a fabric - I am sure I will be able to, I have heaps to pick from.
Tonight I hope to get a new design underway, hopefully I will have something to share again tomorrow.
Well I must have filled up my quoter on the next previous post - it would let me post the last 4 photos so her they are
Beryl's quilt was a total surprise to her and it looked stunning Stephanie's was just gorgeous Sarah also couldn't be with us but her quilt looked amazing - she was thrilled with it This is my quilt - all the fabrics in it were given to me for my birthday last year from a group of ladies that I was part of a fat 1/4 birthday swap - they were all reproduction fabrics and the result blew me away
A big thanks to all those who tokk part in this paperbag/friendship quilt - I am sure you will all agree that the quilts truely do look amazing.
