Well after 3 retreats in the past week, I thought I deserved a day off yesterday - Monday the shop is actaully closed so Nicole and I decided to go for a bush walk along one of my favourite walks around Nundle -
When my children were much younger we use to go walking and exploring this track alot, the track takes you down along the Oakenville Creek - where once thousands of gold miners lived and worked the gold mines dug into the side of the mountains. The open mines are still there today - these two photos are of open gold mines that we use to go into and explore years ago. Nicole and I were very happy just to look from the outside and remember those days.
Also the track runs along underneath "Hanging Rock". I offen get asked by visitors to the shop - where is Hanging Rock" - Hanging Rock is actually a rock formation that hangs out over the valley - and all of the side of the mountain is just rock - that once must have started at the top and has slowly slipped down the mountain side. I always tell people the best way to see the rock is from underneath along the two mile walk. So here is a photo looking up from the walk.
Thanks for sharing my day off, Kerry
