It you have a minute grab a cup of coffee or a glass of champange and join me for a look at these wonderful quilts.
Well some of you may recall back in March when my paper bag quilt group received their bags back with their completed blocks after 12 months of work by all the ladies in the group. Well last Thursday 19th June was the finishing date to have at least the quilt top completed. We met as a group for dinner, then after eating we took over the dining room and had show and tell. These are the completed quilts - less 4 members could not be with us.
This is Judy's "Ruths Quilt" we all embroidered the blocks and stitched some of the rows together for her. The colours look great.
Ros' blocks were all bird houses, any size or shape - and look at the wonderful quilt she put together using them.
Wendy's blocks were all from "A Gardeners Journal" - we all embroidered them for her - she pieced the quilt together using a jelly roll - it looked so good and was quilted by Betty who as usual did a fantastic job.
This is Leannes gorgeous quilt - we all made a star block and a joiner block, but Leanne still had lots of sewing to get the quilt top together - then she had it professionally quilted by our wonderful quilter Betty.
Well as you can see - our Vicki didn't meet the deadline - her blocks were all tea pots, she dos actually have more then this but - well we will lokk forward to seeing what else she might do with them.
Boonie has decided to add more flying geese around her quilt top, we all made a block each as well as 10 flying geese - I am looking forward to seeing the next row on. - Looking good
This is Beryl's quilt - I think everyone was very pleased when they finished Beryls blocks - believe me it wasn't the easiest block to piece to gether but wow what a fantastic finish - looks great.
And last but not least here I am with my quilt - I asked all the ladies to do a stitchery that reminded them of me - they are just wonderful - then I pieced them together with lots of small blocks - I love machine piecing and especially small pieces, the largest block is 8 1/2" - down to 1" checher board pieces. I am so happy with it - My "Friends from Mistletoe Manor".
Thanks to all those who took part in the Paper Bag Quilt swap (Friendship quilt) you have all done a brilliant job - Happy sewing
Just thought I would share a few photos of some of the blocks I am putting in with the wonderful stitcheries I received from last years Paper Bag friendship quilt swap. Our dead line to have the quilt top completed is this Thursday evening, so I have lots of sewing to do between now and then, probably a couple of late nights I would say. But iam a great one to work to deadlines so I promise I will have it completed.
I will share a photo of the quilt top after I share it with my group on Thursday evening.
Well last friday was my Birthday and many thanks to all those that sent Birthday wishes. I had a great day spent with family and friends, then on Saturday we travelled to visit our dear friends, about 4 1/2 hours away. That evening we dined with another 2 couples at the Parkes Telescope - Dish Cafe - very delicious 5 course meal, great company and nice local wines.
Then on Sunday Tanya and I visited the wonderful ladies at Club Quilt Narromine, it was so nice to sit and be part of their group for a short time, so inspiring to see all of the wonderful projects they were all working on.
I will be back soon to share some of my latest project, but typepad hasn't been cooporating so I will leave that until later.
My May newsletter was a little late - but better late then never. If you would like to have a read pop over to my web site (which is linked on the left of this page) and click on Newsletter across the top of my home page. There are a few exciting things in the pipe line - I will have further details posted here in the next week.
Photo - "One lonely Olive" just thought I would share this with you, I took it earlier this year.
As the Sunset over the hills of Nundle, this weekends retreat ladies packed their bags and headed home but not before a quick group shot outside the shop. This wonderful group of ladies have been visiting me for a few years now each June. There were a variety of quilts made in the two days, Lynettes flannel looked stunning with the use of this fantastic border print. The weather was very kind to us with nice warm sunny days all weekend.
