Christmas in July - follow up

Well aren't these two projects just gorgeous, Janelle and Natalie have done wonderful jobs on both of these projects.

I have cut the kits and they are ready to go, just waiting on the brand new patterns to arrive, and then I just have to add a few special threats to go with them and they are ready for the post.

Included in the kit for "Vintage Christmas" are all the fabrics to make both cushions as well as buttons, threads and heat and bond.

And in "Mr Jolly Jingles" kit, is the base fabric for the santa, red & cream chenille, wadding, ric rac, rusty bells and star buttons, buttons, threads and paint.

If you have not already done so, jump over to the web site and place your order,  before you do here are the answers to a few questions I have been asked.

How does the online part work?  Well you will receive all the printed instructions in the pattern so if you don't want to check out the web site you don't have to. Your code will give you access to the site for 1 month, on which there will be step by step photos and instructions for both projects. It will be just like looking up this or any other blog.

How long do I have to make the projects? You can take as long as you would like to make either of the projects - the web site will only be up and running for the month 25th July to 25th August.

What if I would just like to make one of the projects? If you feel you would only like to make one of the projects then that can be arranged. Cost for "Vintage Christmas" only will be $69.95 or "Mr Jolly Jingles" only will be $69.95 this includes postage within Australia.

How long do I have to order my kit/kits? Kits will be available at these prices until the 25th August.

For all those ladies who have already signed up, I will pop your packages in the mail next week, so you should have them ready to start on or after the 25th July.

Happy Christmas in July to you all.

Just 2 things to share

Just a couple of things to share with you all tonight - firstly Rosalie Quinlans Book "GIFT" arrived in store this week - they are selling for $35 each which will include postage within Australia - so if you would like a copy it can be ordered from my website - link is on the left hand side bar.

Typepad 237

Secondly I would like to introduce a new lady to blogging  -  Sharon - she is one of my weekly Tuesday ladies and is very busy organising a Quilt show and challenge to be held to raise money for her local pre school and Breast Cancer. The show will be held in October with lots of great prizes - the challenge is that you must work with "Quest for a Cure" fabrics. We have in stock a variety of Northcott - Quest for a Cure fabrics - that are available to anyone wishing to make a quilt or a small item for the challenge - at a cost of $15 per metre. At this stage the fabrics can only be purchased at this price for the challenge. So if anyone would like further details jump over to Sharons blog site or contact myself.

Lets all get behind Sharon and help raise money for 2 very worthy causes. I am very happy to cut up a kit for anyone who would like to enter.  Jump over and say hi and wish her all the best.

I will be back very soon with more details on our CHRISTMAS IN JULY ONLINE so keep an eye out here for further details.

3 Retreats in one week

Well you all probably think I have been slack but really I have been very busy with 3 - 2 day retreats and one big Tuesday class in the last week.

My first group photo is of a group from not too far away from home - alot of the ladies made quilts using some of the wonderful flannels in stock at the moment, everyones quilts looked great - well done

Typepad 223 Then Tuesday class had 15 in attendence with them all working on hand stitching a fur bear - I will show a photo of some completed bears in a couple of weeks. Those that have known me for a few years will know that I use to make and design lots of fur bears in a past life.

Wednesday morning saw me up bright and early before sunrise preparing for my next retreat - this was a photo I took as the sun rose up over the mountains looking from the shop - what a great time of the day.

Typepad 236 edited Then I was so busy cutting up kits for the ladies in this group that I missedtaking a whole group shot, below is Kim, Annette, Sue and Jenny with some of their completed quilt tops all packaged ready to send off to Betty for quilting. It is always great to have thses ladies with me - they make a week of it in Nundle.

Typepad 233

Then my group on the weekend decided to do a Christmas in July retreat after hear about the big one we had here last year. Saturday they all worked on "Nundle" an angel from Rosalie Quinlan, then on Sunday they all worked on a project from Nancy Halvorsen's new Christmas book "12 Days of Christmas" - we finished off the weekend with a roast turkey lunch - a great weekend had by all.

I will be back soon to share lots of other exciting news - there seems to be so much going on at the moment - I am not sure I know where to start.

Paper Bag Quilt - Finished

It you have a minute grab a cup of coffee or a glass of champange and join me for a look at these wonderful quilts.

Well some of you may recall back in March when my paper bag quilt group received their bags back with their completed blocks after 12 months of work by all the ladies in the group. Well last Thursday 19th June was the finishing date to have at least the quilt top completed. We met as a group for dinner, then after eating we took over the dining room and had show and tell. These are the completed quilts - less 4 members could not be with us.

Typepad 205  This is Judy's "Ruths Quilt" we all embroidered the blocks and stitched some of the rows together for her. The colours look great.

Typepad 206 Ros' blocks were all bird houses, any size or shape - and look at the wonderful quilt she put together using them.

Typepad 207 Wendy's blocks were all from "A Gardeners Journal" - we all embroidered them for her - she pieced the quilt together using a jelly roll - it looked so good and was quilted by Betty who as usual did a fantastic job.

Typepad 208 This is Leannes gorgeous quilt - we all made a star block and a joiner block, but Leanne still had lots of sewing to get the quilt top together - then she had it professionally quilted by our wonderful quilter Betty.

Typepad 210 Well as you can see - our Vicki didn't meet the deadline - her blocks were all tea pots, she dos actually have more then this but - well we will lokk forward to seeing what else she might do with them.

Typepad 214 Boonie has decided to add more flying geese around her quilt top, we all made a block each as well as 10 flying geese - I am looking forward to seeing the next row on. - Looking good

Typepad 216

This is Beryl's quilt - I think everyone was very pleased when they finished Beryls blocks - believe me it wasn't the easiest block to piece to gether but wow what a fantastic finish - looks great.

Typepad 218  And last but not least here I am with my quilt - I asked all the ladies to do a stitchery that reminded them of me - they are just wonderful - then I pieced them together with lots of small blocks - I love machine piecing and especially small pieces, the largest block is 8 1/2" - down to 1" checher board pieces. I am so happy with it - My "Friends from Mistletoe Manor".

Thanks to all those who took part in the Paper Bag Quilt swap (Friendship quilt) you have all done a brilliant job - Happy sewing

Kerry

Friends from Mistletoe Manor

Just thought I would share a few photos of some of the blocks I am putting in with the wonderful stitcheries I received from last years Paper Bag friendship quilt swap. Our dead line to have the quilt top completed is this Thursday evening, so I have lots of sewing to do between now and then, probably a couple of late nights I would say. But iam a great one to work to deadlines so I promise I will have it completed.

I will share a photo of the quilt top after I share it with my group on Thursday evening.

Well it was my Birthday

Well last friday was my Birthday and many thanks to all those that sent Birthday wishes. I had a great day spent with family and friends, then on Saturday we travelled to visit our dear friends, about 4 1/2 hours away. That evening we dined with another 2 couples at the Parkes Telescope - Dish Cafe - very delicious 5 course meal, great company and nice local wines.

Then on Sunday Tanya and I visited the wonderful ladies at Club Quilt Narromine, it was so nice to sit and be part of their group for a short time, so inspiring to see all of the wonderful projects they were all working on.

I will be back soon to share some of my latest project, but typepad hasn't been cooporating so I will leave that until later.

Thanks for dropping by,

Kerry
